Tips for determining size and width
- The following tips can help you choose suitable shoes so that your sneakers offer maximum comfort.
- Your heel should feel comfortable and not slip out. The middle part of the shoe, under your arch and across the top of your foot, should fit comfortably but not too tightly. Too tight? Then a shoe for wider feet might be a better option.
- You should have enough room to move your toes. New Balance shoes should be comfortable from the very first step. They don't need to be broken in.
- Many people tend to buy shoes that are too small. When are your shoes too small or too narrow? If you frequently experience foot cramps or your foot often falls asleep, either during or after running. Of course, blisters and calluses on or between your toes are also signs that your shoes are too small or too narrow.
- Feet tend to get bigger as we age. That's why you should have your feet measured once a year. Women's feet often increase in size by half a size (or more) after pregnancy. If you previously bought shoes for narrow feet, you may now need standard-size shoes.
- Your left and right feet can differ by a full size in both length and width. Therefore, you should measure both feet and try on shoes with both feet. And always buy shoes that fit your larger foot.
- If you're unsure between two sizes, choose the larger one. This can be adjusted with socks, insoles, or a different lacing pattern.
- Since feet swell throughout the day, we recommend trying on shoes later in the day when your feet are at their largest.
Remember: Men's and women's shoes differ mainly in width. If you're a woman looking to buy men's sneakers or a man looking to buy women's sneakers, keep this in mind and take the time to try them on.
